The program, dubbed "Project Morpheus," requires workers to maintain detailed dream journals and submit 1,000-word analyses explaining how their subconscious visions demonstrate alignment with Microsoft's core values. Employees who don't remember their dreams must attend mandatory 3AM "Dream Awareness Training" sessions via Microsoft Mesh, wearing company-issued HoloLens headsets preconfigured with "unconscious optimization protocols."
"Yesterday I dreamed about flying, which clearly represents my aspirational journey toward cloud computing excellence," wrote senior developer Tom Patterson in a company-wide email, followed by his required dream signature: "Last night I dreamed I turned into a Surface tablet."
An internal training document obtained by TechWatch outlines acceptable and unacceptable dream themes. Dreams involving competing tech companies are automatically flagged for "mindset remediation," unless the dreamer defeats them using Microsoft products. The document specifically praises one employee's dream of "vanquishing the Apple logo with a well-aimed Microsoft Teams notification."
The company cafeteria has begun serving complimentary "Dream Enhancement Smoothies" containing what HR describes as "trace amounts of perception-expanding substances to unlock unlimited mindset potential." Multiple employees report their dreams have become "more vibrant" and "surprisingly focused on quarterly OKRs."
The policy faced immediate pushback from employees who reported dreams about Bill Gates, which the company now classifies as "legacy thinking" requiring immediate counseling. "We appreciate Bill's contributions," said Jennifer Walsh, Microsoft's newly appointed Chief Dream Officer, "but we need dreams aligned with our current cloud-first, AI-powered vision."
